Fabric District 2nd best place in UK to live!

The Fabric District, an up and coming area of Liverpool, has just been ranked as the 2nd best place in the country to live for residents under the age of 35. The article, first released in The Times newspaper, named the popular city location in a list of areas in the UK that are affordable and good neighbourhoods for young people.

The Fabric District, which came second to Leeds City Centre, has long been renowned as one of the city’s best up and coming areas having seen a substantial amount of redevelopment over the last 5/10 years, much of which has been focused on the student sector. The proximity of both Liverpool John Moores University and Liverpool University has made the area popular with students and, subsequently, young workers.

The Fabric District (formerly known as Islington) is the historic home of the city’s well renowned textiles industry which centered in this area of the city due to its low property prices and proximity to Liverpool’s textile retail industry. The area started to regenerate between 2010/2015 and has accelerated recently with help from the Fabric District CIC (Community Interest Company) which is a collection of the area’s businesses and residents.

Although predominantly known for student housing the completion of The Milliners Yard scheme (a purpose built BTR development) was a major step forward for the reputation of the area. Further residential, BTR and student schemes are planned for the city
