Dishoom arrives in Liverpool!

Fantastic news for all Liverpool foodies is the impending arrival of the Dishoom in Liverpool city centre. Planning documents registered with Liverpool City Council details plans by the much-loved Indian food brand for a new venue in Exchange Court on Dale Street.

The proposals for the new site are centred upon a bar/café style concept which Dishoom call their “Permit Room” which they say takes inspiration from the post prohibition bars in India. The 11 strong chain describes the style as “vibrant and inclusive spaces centred around high-quality drinks, inventive small plates, and a lively social atmosphere.”

Dishoom has become one of the most popular and talked about Indian restaurants chains in the UK with growth and numbers not dissimilar to the much-loved Liverpool based Mowgli. The brand was originally formed in 2010 and has since grown to 11 venues in the UK. Whilst their first venue was opened in London’s famous Covent Garden their northern outlets, particularly Manchester and Edinburgh, have become local institutions.

The proposed opening of Dishoom, close to the ever-popular Castle Street, further enhances Liverpool city centre as one of the most popular and vibrant “foodie cities” in the UK. With Castle Street now packed full with a broad range of restaurants and bars we are seeing the adjoining roads, such as Dale Street, benefit from the growth of new brands arriving in the city. It is of little surprise that demand to live in the city, whether this be buying or renting apartments, is booming and looks set to continue to grow over the coming years.
