New town with 10,000 homes

Proposals for a new town in North Liverpool have been announced with the potential for circa 10,000 homes to be built as part of the proposals.

Liverpool City Council has submitted the proposals to the government with the aim of transforming multiple brownfield sites north of the city in areas such as Everton, Anfield, Bootle and Kirkdale. The aim of the proposals is to achieve New Town status which is a government granted designation that aims to revitalise areas such as North Liverpool.

The proposal would include some key locations along the route including Vauxhall/Pumpfields, Everton’s new stadium at Bramley Moore Dock and potentially the Strand shopping area in Bootle.

The city council has worked in collaboration with Sefton Council, Liverpool City Region Combined Authority, Homes England and key landowners in the area to set out a 10-year vision for the area with Council leader Liam Robinson saying that the project represented “the scale of ambition we want to see within the city”.
