4 bidders for Festival Gardens

Place North West have announced that there are four bidders currently in the mix for the development opportunity at Festival Gardens. PNW report that Vistry, CERT Property, Muse, and a JV between Igloo Regeneration with Urban Splash, are the four developers in the running for the high-profile residential scheme.

The scheme which has been in the making for some 20 years could see the delivery of 1,500 homes and has returned to the market when Liverpool City Council launched it’s proposals for the site and invitation to developers to get involved. The former landfill site has a chequered history and has so far had over £50m spent in remediation with the support of Homes England and the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority.

Located south of Liverpool city centre on the Mersey, the site has long been earmarked for development into housing although a previous development agreement with Ion Developments failed to progress.

The proposals for the site will include a mixed tenure of housing with private for sale apartments and housing, apartments and housing to rent, affordable housing, and even extra care/retirement housing.
