Momentum appears to be building in Liverpool City Centre and the wider city region with multiple recent announcements over the past couple of weeks which promises to kickstart housing in the region.
Homes England and Aviva have announced more than 100 new homes funded with a £100m investment pot supported by the newly established National Housing Bank and in conjunction with Place Capital Group. This news comes off the back of the recent announcement that Torus Homes will develop 135 new homes, including approximately 110 Build to Rent (BTR) properties and 25 Rent to Buy homes on a site close to Greatie Market.
News of this latest investment comes after Liverpool City Region Mayor Steve Rotheram has announced a £2bn, 10-year housing plan to deliver over 64,000 new homes across 300+ sites, including nearly 31,000 in Liverpool. The strategy focuses on accelerating development on unused land, supporting social/affordable housing, and establishing a new Mayoral Development Corporation.
Just off Vauxhall Road Rosmara Developments’ plans for 158 homes off Vauxhall Road comes after numerous other proposed schemes have been announced in the area over the last 12 months. It is also in a location that is seeing significant development from the likes of Legacie and Integritas.
The 10-storey development between Oriel Street and Paul Street was designed by Falconer Chester Hall and would provide 158 homes, including 78 one-bed flats, 72 with two beds and seven townhouses. Planners gave the green light to the scheme this week in a further boost for the potential of the area to deliver thousands of homes over the next few years.
There was also an announcement about another potential development this week with Vauxhall based Brack Construction proposing a 290-unit scheme on a large 5-acre plot to the north of the city on the site of the former Trinity RC Primary School
The proposals include 242 apartments with the reminder bieng one or three beds across six blocks ranging from four to five storeys. The site lies within the Pumpfields and Limekilns strategic regeneration zone.
